Boerne, Texas, January 23, 2017. Electrolab is pleased to announce the issue of a United States utility patent for their Anti-Paraffin Treatment (AP Treatment) used to treat a digital level sensor utilized in crude oil operations. The patent, which issued in October 2016, provides both a method and kit for treatment of various components that may be utilized in any environment in which crude oil is present.

AP Treatment is a nanoscale surface treatment designed to help overcome the challenges associated with paraffin, asphaltene and other types of build-up on stainless steel and nickel alloy components deployed in crude oil operations. Upon application, this unique material becomes covalently bound to the substrate to form a permanent, stable chemical bond that reduces surface tension and effectively inhibits the ability of heavy hydrocarbon admixtures, such as paraffins and asphaltenes, to adhere to these surfaces. Application of this environmentally safe surface treatment results in longer-lasting, better performing equipment that is easy to clean. With a thickness of only a few nanometers (10-9), AP Treatment does not alter the appearance, functionality or chemical compatibility of the treated substrate. Since the treatment creates a molecular bond with the substrate, it will not chip or flake like traditional surface coatings.

Electrolab has deployed more than 12,000 of their Model 2100 Stainless Steel Digital Level Sensors with this advanced surface treatment in upstream oil & gas environments across North America. Electrolab’s Anti-Paraffin Treatment has successfully eliminated paraffin and asphaltene buildup in these crude oil service applications, while reducing maintenance costs and saving thousands of dollars per customer location. Based on this success, Electrolab customers requested additional applications and treatment technologies. To meet the increasing demand, Electrolab created the new spin-off company, e9 Treatments, Inc. e9 Treatments, Inc. is dedicated to “Innovating Asset Protection through Cutting Edge Nanotechnology Surface Treatments.” See the News Release, “Electrolab Announces New Spin-Off Company, e9 Treatments, Inc.,” on e9Treatments.com or more information.
