The Explosion Proof Housing can be added to any Model 2100 Digital Level Sensor (RU Flex, Stainless Steel or Fiberglass with or without the High-Level Shut-In option). This housing actively limits current and voltage to protect intrinsically safe equipment from power spikes and sparking in hazardous environments—ensuring the safety of oil field personnel and equipment. The Explosion-Proof Housing is available in 12V (Model 2110EX-12) and 24V (Model 2110EX-24) versions for use with control equipment that generates either 12VDC or 24VDC.

Digital level sensors with a properly installed explosion-proof housing are NRTL (Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory) certified explosion proof and intrinsically safe, Class I, Div. 1, Group D.

Simplified Site Design

The Explosion-Proof Housing option simplifies site design by allowing any Model 2100 Digital Level Sensor (RU Flex, Stainless Steel or Fiberglass) to meet electrical code and internal safety requirements without installing additional equipment. Step-down transformers, barrier boards, and other devices are not needed when the sensor is wired to the explosion-proof conduit.

The housing offers 2-wire RS485 digital signals and two emulated dry contact circuits for use with the High-Level Shut-In option. The Explosion-Proof Housing options for the High-Level Shut-In are the Model 2110EX-12H and Model 2110EX-24H.
